I am Oak.
I am the watcher in the darkness, the purveyor of all that is unholy; Slayer of Kings, Dragons, Demons, and Warlords.
But it gets lonely. So I began my search. From Mulgore to the Plaguelands I searched. For years my loneliness was unchecked. I searched through the Stranglethorn Vale and even into the ruins of Anqiraj. Many allies I found and each of them temporary. I traveled to Outlands and killed demons by the dozens. So many dead that even I lost count. And still… I wandered alone.
My journeys led me to teaming up with disparate souls. Brotherhoods of skumbags, Hoarders of treasure and loot, and even those that killed one another for fun. My journey was not finished.
The assault on the Lich King’s Fortress began. For weeks I plunged headlong into the long halls with those who took the treasure, laughed at the failures of others, and went their own ways. I wanted more.
One lonely night in Dalaran, a gentle paladin approached. She introduced herself and sat with me in the sewers where I spent my time. She told me of her companions, Laughter, Joy, and Hope. I understood, and told her about the struggle against the Lich King; about how I longed for her Joy, and how it had forsaken me. She took me by the hand and led me out of the sewers. She took me to a quiet grove in Silvermoon and showed me her world. Other paladins of the Light, Champions of virtue, and enemies of the Lich King. We joined together in revelry. We shared drink and talked at length. Then I met their leader. A tall warrior named Chimpy. He shook my hand and told another tale.
“The warriors that stand before you are noble soldiers who fight tirelessly against the Lich King. We fight together. We fight for Honor in the way that the Warchief has taught us. More importantly, we fight for each other. Where one of us fights, we all fight. Where one of us is victorious, we all celebrate. Tonight we go to assault the Keep of the Lich King. Tonight we end his tyranny forever. We do this, together, or not at all. What say you? Will you shed Blood for Whiskey?”
That night I joined them. We laughed as we killed the Lich. We rejoiced in our triumphs against the dread pirates, we held each other during the great cataclysm. Many of us fell. We raised one another up. We explored a bright new continent. We Ended Garrosh’s Tyranny. Bloodied and battered, we stand now, against an Iron Horde.
Make no mistake. We laugh, and care for one another, and it does not make us weak. This is the reason we fight. We are all worth fighting for. We will carve out a home for ourselves in Draenor, and we will ensure that Tyranny never reigns in Azeroth again.
What say you? Will you join us? Will you put your life on the line for us, as we do the same for you?
Will you give your Blood for Whiskey?
